The tail end of 2020 saw Mission Housing complete a full rehabilitation of the Abel Gonzalez apartments.
In 1990, Pacific Bell donated the structure to Mission Housing Development Corporation. The initial conversion to apartments was completed in 1992 at a total cost of $3.6 million.
In 2020, the rehabilitation of Abel Gonzalez and its 30 units of senior housing totaled $12 million. Construction was halted temporarily in March of 2020 with the Covid-19 pandemic. It was completed in October of 2020.
